the dark cloud is lurking overhead. i feel it waiting for me to make the first move. it won’t float away anytime soon so long as i remain paralyzed by the long list of things i want to be “when i grow up”.

wait a minute… i am grown up. shoot.

anyways, on this long list of things i’d like to do is interior design. though this may not end up to be the career choice i make, i still love picking out and playing with colours and furniture, home accents, lighting, etc. every once in a while i’ll pick up the style at home magazine and wish that i was very rich and could afford, (well actually – come to think of it – an actual house!) everything in it. for now i remain in my delusions of grandeur.

my most favorite home decor store here in Winnipeg is URBAN BARN. i actually was hired on there a couple years back and though i really wanted to accept, i needed more money and the job i’m at now doesn’t work around anyone’s schedule making it pretty much impossible to hold down two jobs. some people manage to do it, and to those people i say “CLAP CLAP CLAP…no thank you”.

I recently bought these two cushions at Urban Barn:

i plan to get a third one, possibly in purple and a different style. we’ll see what my bank account says about that.

here are some living rooms i love. photos are all courtesy of DECOR PAD:

i don’t know about you, but i see a re-occurring theme here. lots of natural light is definitely top of the list for me followed by lots of different patterns and accent colours. i’m not a “matchy-matchy” kind of gal. i also don’t like rooms that feel too serious. in my opinion, a room to be merely looked at and praised for it’s style is a waste! a gorgeous room should also be one that you can experience, touch and enjoy. i really dig the white fluffy accents. it makes me just want to curl up for the afternoon with green tea, a good book and my sweet pup, pax.
